This is My Struggle As A Determined Network Marketer

How It Started

I am a physician by profession, orthopedic surgeon by specialty and professional network marketer by choice. I had my private practice as board certified orthopedic surgeon in Pasadena Texas, Southeasr part of Houston for 33 years. I had a very busy practice with a 7- figure annual income. That started me to change my thinking. I was earning  the income I wanted, but did not have time to enjoy it because my life was spent at the operating room, in my offices, in the hospital wards and the emergency rooms. I was earning a linear income. When I could not report for work, my income stops but my overhead expenses still keep on going.

So in the late 1980's I decided to earn a residual income. I thought I could not write best-seller books nor could I be a rock star, so I chose network marketing.

Promotion of Nutritional Products Attracted Me

Being a doctor, I started to promote  health products, nutritional supplements. This segment of the industry made me learn more about nutrition, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants and free radicals. I recruited distributors, built my downline. I was doing this part-time after work or during week-ends,  and still working hard with my medical practice, and that created a problem about time I was supposed to spend with my family. 

Other Problems Encountered in Network Marketing

Aside from the time problem of network marketing while maintaining a full-tie private orthopedic practice,other problems developed. My income in network marketing diminished when I could not train well my down line, during economic downturns when my distributors were having hard time financially, the first item they cancelled was their auto-ship money to buy the products monthly. Another big problem I had was my wife who was an Attorney, did not believe in my network marketing activities. That was a big problem I had to overcome with difficulty.

Network Marketing Other Business Models

When my nutritial products business was not doing well, I enrolled in many other business models including, Cash gifting, Money Games, Telecommunications, Gasoline-Additives, One-up systems, Personal and Business Developmdent High Ticket Products, Gold and Silver Products, E-Commerce and Online Shopping. Crowdfunding and Cryptocurrency.

Causes of Failures I Encountered in network Marketing

My personal experience includes the following causes of failures: Failure  to perform my due diligence about the merits of the company before enrolling, failure to focus my energy on the company because I was attracted to other so-called "shiny objects-- I was jumping from one company to another, absence of good mentors, Purchase of a company by another company and products were discontinued,  failure to withdraw the income from the company because of greed, hoping that the money will grow more if I wait, companies shut down by the authorities as alleged Ponzi Schemes and failure ro spend adequate time for personal development.

What I Gained from All these Experiences

From all these failures and experience in the network marketing industry for over 3 decades, what I gained is some wisdom. Now I know how to evaluate a company before I join. Among other things, I have to know the owner, his history, integrity, experience, failures and successes, his management team, the compensation plan  that  favors the distributor, policies that protect distributors, type of  business model, and timing, and years of existence; Is the product controlled by centralized authorities like banks, governments or corporation,  or is the control in the hands of the people?

My Big Why--Why I Want to Succeed in Network Marketing

I want to earn as much money as I can in the next 5 years so that I will have a lot of fun giving it all away to the people in need for the resr of my lifetime.
